Choosing a rural adventure has paid off for Emerald music teacher Monique Podolak who now calls the Central Highlands home.
After moving back from England, Monique didn’t expect to stay in Australia for long, but that all changed after securing a music teacher role in Emerald.
She said taking a job in a rural community was the best decision as she now enjoys a rewarding lifestyle with her family.
'We love the place,' Monique said. 'I haven’t looked back and here I am 14 years later.'
Monique has worked at Denison State School for the past 8 years.
'It’s been wonderful to be able to bring up 2 children in such a beautiful place where they can feel safe.'
'There’s lots of quality time together—we ride bikes on weekends and your friends become your family. That’s the important part.'
'No matter where you are you’ve got people who will support you. That’s what happens in the small communities.'
'We have no plans to be moving away from Emerald.'
