Ready to start your teaching career in a Queensland state school? Let's make sure you're eligible to apply for a teaching role with us.
Whether you're a graduate beginning your teaching career or an experienced teacher looking for a new school to call home – you'll need to meet the following criteria prior to employment.
How we determine your eligibility
Teachers are responsible for developing our future leaders, so naturally, we want to employ people who demonstrate high professional standards, knowledge, and relevant experience.
Before you apply for a teaching role in our state schools, you'll need:
-
Completion of a
relevant qualification for the teaching positions you're applying for, which might be learning phase or curriculum area and year level specific (for example, senior chemistry).
-
Registration with the
Queensland College of Teachers or evidence of application, or eligibility for registration.
-
Working rights in Australia, which means you have, or you are eligible to obtain a valid Australian Visa with work rights (if you're not already an Australian Citizen or resident).
You are considered ineligible for teaching roles if you have previously been excluded from employment as a teacher with the department or had a restriction placed on your employment eligibility.
